Tyler Gathman, MS, is a fourth-year medical student at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine. He earned his MS in Biomedical Engineering with an emphasis on machine learning algorithms and signal processing. This accomplishment was realized when he completed the Augustine Biomedical Engineering Research Fellowship. Prior to this, Tyler graduated with a BS in Chemical Engineering from Iowa State University. Before entering medical school, he was selected for the Mayo Clinic Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship. Recently, he was awarded the Eivind Hoff Award for neurotology research from the International Hearing Foundation. Tyler plans to specialize in Otolaryngology with a keen interest in neurotology.
His research spans multiple disciplines, encompassing biomedical engineering and computational methods, machine learning, artificial intelligence, ultrasound stimulation of the auditory system, and otolaryngology. Additionally, he has an educational interest in joint engineering-medical school programs and innovative curriculums.
