Kaersti L. Rickels, BA, is a fourth year medical student at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She attended Hendrix College, and graduated in 2019 after completing a double major in both Biology and Spanish with distinction in both fields. After college she sought out a competitive fellowship to teach English abroad and was able to work in a public preschool in Madrid, Spain for 7 months, until the Covid-19 pandemic began, leading her to coming home. After this she began medical school at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. She has an interest in surgical fields, and service work abroad. She has continued to use her Spanish language skills at 12th Street Health and Wellness, a student run free clinic at UAMS in her free time.
