Professor Gunesh Rajan, MD, DM, FMH, FRACS is currently Vice-Chairman at the Dept.of Otorhinolaryngology,Luzern,Switzerland and Director of the Central Swiss Head &Neck-Skullbase Centre, academically he is Professor of Medical Sciences at the Faculty of Health Sciences & Medicine,University of Luzern,Switzerland and Professor of Head of Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery at the University of Western Australia in Perth. He completed his Otolaryngology training at the ENT Dept., University Hospital Zurich, Switzerland, he is dual-fellowship trained in Otology-Skullbase as well as Head & Neck. In his clinical practice he looks after children and adults with hearing and balance problems as well as patients with tumors of the head & neck and skull base. His research groups focus on hearing implants, tumor immunology, skull base surgery and tissue engineering. Prof.Rajan performed the first paediatric EAS cochlear implantation and extended Vibroplasty surgeries in Australia and the Asia Pacific. In 2008 his team initiated one of the first prospective cohort studies investigating the impact of cochlear implantation for single sided deafness. He participates in the various indigenous Ear Health programs in rural Western Australia as part of his outreach work. As member of several international outreach programs, he is actively involved in establishing hearing health and cancer screening initiatives and programs across South Asia and the Asia Pacific.
