Dr. Sohit Kanotra is a Pediatric Otolaryngologist and Director of the Pediatric Airway Program at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He is Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Otolaryngology and Department of Pediatrics, with a clinical focus on the management of children with complex airway, swallowing and voice issues. He also has clinical interest in the management of head and neck vascular anomalies and pediatric thyroid disorders. Dr. Kanotra joined the University of Iowa in 2019, prior to which he was the Director of the Pediatric Aerodigestive Center and the surgical director of the vascular anomalies clinic at Children’s Hospital of New Orleans.
Dr. Kanotra is nationally and internationally recognized expert in the management of pediatric airway disorders with multiple invited national and international presentations.
Dr. Kanotra was born in India and after completing his residency, pursued advanced surgical fellowships. He is dual fellowship trained in Pediatric Otolaryngology from the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, and Thyroid and Parathyroid surgery from St. Luke’s Roosevelt Hospital in Columbia University, New York.
Apart from having a highly active clinical practice, he is actively involved in research and fosters a strong interest in basic science research in airway reconstruction, airway injury, 3D bioprinting and computational fluid dynamics as well as clinical outcomes research focused on open airway reconstructive techniques, pediatric dysphagia, and thyroid disorders. Dr. Kanotra is involved internationally in various humanitarian efforts as well as working at the community level with various education programs for children with tracheostomy.
