David Haynes is a professor in the departments of Otolaryngology, Neurosurgery and Hearing and Speech Sciences at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He is the Chief Experience Office at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Director of the division of Neurotology within the department of Otolaryngology and is co-director of the multidisciplinary Skull base Center. In addition, he directs the internationally recognized Neurotology Fellowship training program and the Vanderbilt Cochlear Implant Program.
Dr. Haynes research is concerned around a variety of topics in skull base surgery and cochlear implantation outcomes. To date, he has authored or co-authored over 270 peer reviewed publications. His more recent research is involved around patient access and patient care for hearing related disorders. He and his team have innovated a new concept of same day cochlear implant evaluation and surgery unique in its kind in the world. For these efforts, the department has developed a unique award open to residents in training across the county, the Haynes Award for Innovation.
