I'm a head and neck surgery resident at Loma Linda University medical center, and am currently an active duty medical officer in the US Public Health Service. I am an alumni of Teach for America (Camden, New Jersey, 2011) and previously taught for Kaplan Test Prep. In college I was awarded a bachelor with honors in chemistry for research in solid state matter. Awarded the district teacher of the month while doing Teach for America.
I was born in Pakistan and came to this country at a young age as a first generation immigrant. I lived in Chicago, IL and learned English and attend pre-school. I attended America's Medical School, the military's Uniformed Services University and was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation for the corps' deployment to Monrovia, Liberia to treat Ebola patients in 2015, and another for providing care durign the COVID pandemic. I have also deployed for migrant public health crises in 2019.
I am also a member of the Arnold Gold Humanism Honors Society, MENSA, the American College of Surgeons, and the Academy of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery.
