Karolina Plonowska-Hirschfeld, MD is a PGY-4 resident at the University of California, San Francisco Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Clinical research has been an important facet of her time at the UCSF School of Medicine, where she completed Medical Doctorate with Distinction. During her yearlong Prendergast Clinical Research Fellowship in Head and Neck Surgery, she established several prospective studies on patient-reported metrics and quality of life outcomes in head and neck oncologic disease and salivary gland disorders. Her current research interests include quality of life outcomes in HPV-associated oropharynx cancer, functional outcomes in microvascular free tissue reconstruction, and chronic obstructive sialadenitis.
