Paediatric Plastic Surgeon and Associate Professor

Dr. Claudia Malic has been caring for pediatric plastic surgery and burns patients since 2014 in Ottawa at CHEO. She has been conducting research in the field of quality improvement, burns, cleft pathology, and patient education. Dr. Malic is the Vice-Chair of Quality for the Department of Surgery, University of Ottawa. She is also the Surgeon Champion for the P-NSQIP and the Lead of the Perioperative QI Program at CHEO. She is an Associate Professor at the University of Ottawa. Before joining CHEO, Dr. Malic finished 3 fellowships in burns, plastic and reconstructive surgery in UK and Canada (Soft Tissue Reconstruction Fellowship, Pediatric Plastic Surgery Fellowship, Total Burn Care Fellowship). DR. Malic is an alumni of the ICES Faculty Scholar program and also has further expertise in Informatics. She is finishing this year a Certificate in Safety, Quality, Informatics and Leadership with the Harvard Medical School. Dr. Malic has a continuous commitment to scholarly work with over 40 peer-reviewed articles, over 70 national and international podium presentations, and over 40 national and international posters. Her work is more focused on how to implement the Learning Health System in Canadian settings, to implement an evidence-based practice at the bedside across all surgical specialties, as well as through implementation and translation of QI and KT in surgery.
