Deepthi Akella, MS, is a third year medical student at the University of the Incarnate Word School of Osteopathic Medicine. She grew up in Des Moines, Iowa prior to attending Creighton University for college, where she majored in Biology and Health Administration. She then continued to receive a masters in Biomedical Sciences before starting medical school. Deepthi has been interested in pursuing otolaryngology since her first year of medical school and is involved in research projects in the areas of otology, pediatric otolaryngology and laryngology. She founded the ENT interest group at her medical school, and is involved in national groups such as Headmirror and The Auricle where she serves as a writer. Deepthi is part of the student board for the annual otolargyngology chatauqua and is passionate about otolaryngology education. She is excited to have the opportunity to present at the AAO-HNSF annual meeting this year!
