Kileisha G. Alicea Rios is a fourth-year medical student at the Universidad Central del Caribe (UCC) with a bachelor’s degree in Cellular Molecular Biology and a minor in medical humanities from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus. She is currently applying for a MED-PEDS residency with the intention to provide primary care to both the pediatric and adult populations. She is co-founder of SOPS, a non-profit organization that aims to provide essential tools to low-income students in PR who are interested in pursuing a career in healthcare. Previously, she worked as a research assistant at institutions such as the University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus and Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Chelsea Healthcare Center in research projects in topics such as primary care, gynecology, and gastroenterology. Currently, she is a principal investigator at UCC in projects about long-term COVID-19. She is interested in continuing and expanding her research studies in endocrinology, particularly in diabetes. With her academic achievements, research experience, and dedication to community service, Kileisha is poised to contribute significantly to the field of medicine and make a positive impact on patients' lives.
