PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Rhinitic symptoms of nasal congestion and rhinorrhea are among the most common reasons why patients seek ENT care. Various topical medications are noncurative and limited by frequent dosing and requirement for proper nasal cavity access. Over the last 5 years, several office-based treatments have received FDA approval in part based on results from clinical trials. Practicing otolaryngologist can now offer cryotherapy or radiofrequency for postnasal drainage and congestion, as well as radiofrequency remodeling and nasal implants for nasal obstruction.

Through panel discussion, we will evaluate the different technological offerings and their relative efficacies. With most new technology, reimbursement and appropriate coding can be uncertain. New codes have been introduced even as recently as January 2023 and will be reviewed. In addition, through case presentations, the panel will discuss indications for various treatment options of rhinitic symptoms. Finally, appropriate coding associated with these treatment options will also be discussed.

BACKGROUND STATEMENT: A spectrum of novel technologies for in-office management of rhinorrhea and nasal obstruction have been introduced over the last several years. Through discussion and cases, we will review these different technologies, their efficacy and indications along with an update on available codes.
