Performance Reviews are a crucial part of any supervisory position. Maximizing the impact for these infrequent, yet highly important, interactions with your team can be the difference between your professional success or failure, as well as that of the organization. Many employees (especially physicians) never receive any formal training in this area before they are promoted into leadership roles.

In academic medicine, these sessions also frequently serve as mentorship and career development sessions where accomplishments may not be recognized via financial rewards and incentives.
