Elina M. Toskala, MD, PhD, MBA, Professor, Vice Chair, Director of Allergy, as well as Medical Director of NJ operations in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery in Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, USA. Dr. Toskala is a nationally and internationally recognized researcher and teacher. She is the immediate past Chair of Women in Rhinology section as well as a member of the Board of Governors for American Rhinologic Society and current treasurer and board member of ISIAN (International Society of Allergy and Inflammation of the Nose). She serves in several committees in ARS, AAOA and AAAAI. She has held academic appointments internationally as well as within the US and has been lecturing world-wide at CME courses and meetings for the last 30 years. Her main area of research has been focusing on chronic rhinosinusitis pathophysiology, genetics, endotyping and in recent years the biologics for airway diseases. Her other research interests include epidemiological and occupational studies of allergic airway disease, allergen immunotherapy and the “Unified Airways”- connections between upper and lower airway diseases. She has published over 150 articles and chapters and serves as an associate editor for Frontiers in Allergy and as an editorial board member for the International Forum of Allergy and Rhinology. She enjoys teaching residents and medical students on a daily basis in her clinic and in the OR, and supervises their research activities.
