Dr. David S Cohen works as an otolaryngologist for the Southern California Permanente Medical Group (SCPMG). He was born in Los Angeles and attended high school at Chadwick School. After graduating, he matriculated to the University of California, Berkeley, where he majored in Molecular cell biology and minored in Music, graduating with honors. Subsequently, he attended the Keck School of Medicine at USC where he graduated with honors of the highest distinction. He completed residency in at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan. There, he was exposed to the wide array of medicine and surgery that otolaryngology had to offer and knew that general otolaryngology was for him. He currently practices general otolaryngology with specific interests in endocrine surgery, middle ear and eustachian tube surgery, and sialendoscopy. He is bilingual in Spanish and English and enjoys the diverse population and food of Los Angeles.
Nationally, he was elected to a leadership position in the American Academy of Otolaryngology (AAO-HNS) by serving on the executive board for the section for residents and fellows (SRF) for two years. He continued his involvement with the AAO Young Physicians Section (YPS) Executive Board as the Member-At-Large, and was elected YPS Chair for 2019-2020. His efforts were recognized by receiving the Adam T. Ross (2016) and the Holt Leadership awards (2017). At SCPMG, he serves as a local physician lead for pratice efficiency and as a regional physician lead for thyroid nodule molecular testing.
Personally, Dr. Cohen is married to Dr. Samantha Nadella, who completed a fellowship in Advanced Minimally Invasive Gynecology Surgery and works at Harbor-UCLA. Dr. Cohen enjoys sports of all kinds and continues to play soccer weekly. In his spare time, he enjoys travelling, gardening, cooking, going to spin or orange theory classes, playing drums, running, dancing, and singing karaoke.
