Dr. Kaitlin Ostrander, MD is an assistant professor at the Larner College of Medicine at the University of Vermont, where she is the Associate Director of the Pediatric Advanced Care Team, which is the palliative care program for the University of Vermont Children's Hospital. She trained in general pediatrics at the University of Vermont, where she served as a Pediatric Hospitalist prior to completing a Pediatric Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh, Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh. In all her roles, she has focused on supporting families through decisions around complex medical care involving medical technology, and how serious illness impacts family life. This work frequently causes her to work closely with otolaryngologists, speech language pathologists, and audiologists to deliver care that does right by patients and their families. Her academic interests involve innovations in teaching serious illness communication and primary palliative care skills, as well as provider wellness and provider debriefing.
