Gregory Dion is a Laryngologist at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center with a secondary appointment in the Department of Biomedical Engineering with a focus on endoscopic and open airway surgery. Beginning his career as an engineer designing medical devices, he has five US Patents and numerous invention disclosures. This foundational undergraduate, graduate, and real-world engineering training, coupled with a residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and a fellowship in Laryngology, have led to more than 60 peer reviewed publications, numerous book chapters and multimedia presentations, and research awards at local, region, national, and international scientific meetings. He has secured more than $3 million dollars in Department of Defense voice and airway research funding. In parallel, he continues his passion for teaching through roles in graduate medical education and engineering faculty appointments mentoring undergraduates, graduate students, post docs, medical students, and residents. Prior to moving to the University of Cincinnati, he served as a Surgeon-Scientist, Laryngologist, and Associate Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Residency Program Director at the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research and Brooke Army Medical Center in Texas.
