Simon K. Lloyd, MD, FRCS

Professor Lloyd is a consultant Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) surgeon based in Manchester. He is also Professor of Otolaryngology at the University of
Manchester. He works at the Manchester Royal Infirmary, Royal Manchester Children's Hospital and at Salford Royal Hospital.

He studied Medicine in London qualifying in 1996. He also has a first-class honours degree in Biochemistry and a MPhil in Neurosciences from Cambridge
University. He trained in ENT surgery in London and has been fully accredited in Ear Nose and Throat Surgeon since 2006. He has undertsken a fellowship in
skull base surgery at Addenbrooke’s Hospital,Cambridge. He was appointed to his current position in 2009.

He works as part of the Manchester Skull Base Unit, the Manchester Auditory Implant team and the Manchester Neurofibromatosis type 2 team. These teams
are each the largest of their kind in the UK and the only team in the UK offering both adult and paediatric auditory brainstem implantation.

Professor Lloyd is frequently invited to speak internationally and has an active research programme focused
on skull base disease and auditory implantation. He has published over 80 peer reviewed papers and 12 book chapters. He has also edited 2 books. He has
recently been awarded a prize from the Royal Society of Medicine for the best original research in ear surgery over the past 5 years. He runs an advanced ear
surgery course and a skull base surgery course both of which attract delegates from around the world.

He is currently president of the British Society of Otology and is a trustee of the British Acoustic Neuroma Association, a charity providing support for patients
with acoustic neuromas.
