Ilana Fischer is a fifth-year resident in the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Michigan. She studied Economics and Spanish Literature at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. Afterwards, she worked at the Brookings Institution in Washington D.C. researching tax and fiscal policy. She then worked at Denver Health in Health Services Research before pursuing her MD at the University of Michigan Medical School. She was awarded an AAO-HNSF Resident Research Grant investigating the modulating effect of the trigeminal nerve upon facial nerve regeneration and synkinesis under the mentorship of Drs. Michael Brenner, Shannon Rudy, and Eva Feldman.
