Maria V. Suurna, MD, FACS, is a Professor of Clinical Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery and Director of Sleep Surgery in the at University of Miami Health and adjunct faculty at Weill Cornell Medicine. Dr. Suurna received her medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine and completed her residency training in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She is bord certified in Otolaryngology and subspecialty board certified in Sleep Medicine. Dr. Suurna is nationally and internationally recognized as an expert in sleep surgery. She is dedicated to providing a comprehensive evaluation and treatment for snoring and obstructive sleep apnea, with the focus on sleep surgery including hypoglossal nerve stimulation implant. She is a member of many professional societies; has published textbooks, textbook chapters and articles in scientific journals; is a reviewer for the specialty journals, frequently lectures nationally and internationally; has organized and chaired national and international meetings; and serves on multiple local and national committees. In addition to her clinical duties, she is actively involved in training medical students and residents at the University of Miami.
