Anastasiya is a fourth-year medical student at the UC Davis School of Medicine interested in head and neck surgery and research. She is especially interested in laryngology and has conducted research on fluoroscopic swallowing outcomes of endoscopic laser versus stapler Zenker’s diverticulotomy, the prevalence of co-existing esophageal findings in patients with Zenker’s diverticulum, and the differences in outcomes in unilevel versus multilevel airway stenosis. Prior to discovering her passion for otolaryngology, Anastasiya received a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and studied antibiotic resistance at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory.
Aside from research, Anastasiya is involved in helping her community in Ukraine, where she grew up, via a telemedicine project that provides medical assistance to patients located in Ukraine and Poland. She hopes to use the skills obtained from her research and clinical projects to contribute to scientific advancements in head and neck surgery and improve their accessibility to her community, both locally and abroad.
