Dr. Antonelli is the George T. Singleton Professor of Otolaryngology at the University of Florida in Gainesville, FL, USA. He completed his undergraduate, medical school, graduate school, and otolaryngology residency training at the University of Minnesota. He undertook fellowship training in neurotology and skull base surgery at the Michigan Ear Institute. In 1994, he joined the faculty in Otolaryngology at University of Florida. He was promoted to associate professor with tenure in 1998 and full professor in 2004. Dr. Antonelli holds joint appointments in the University of Florida Departments of Neuroscience and Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences. He was served as Chair of the Department of Otolaryngology, 2004 - 2022, as the Shands HealthCare Vice-president of Information Services and Chief Medical Information Officer, 2001 - 2008 and the University of Florida College of Medicine’s assistant dean for clinical informatics, 2004- 2009.
Dr. Antonelli is a fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, the American College of Surgeons, the Triological Society, the American Neurotology Society, and the American Otological Society. Dr. Antonelli has given over 200 invited scientific presentations. He has authored over 190 scientific publications and 50 book chapters. Dr. Antonelli maintains an active research program that is focused on otologic implant infections, prevention of iatrogenic hearing loss, ototoxicity, and medication errors. Dr. Antonelli has been recognized with numerous awards for teaching, research, and clinical service.
