Research Fellow
Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Rush University Medical Center
My name is Henrique Ochoa Scussiatto, M.D., M.S., I was born in Cascavel, a small city in Brazil. I am currently serving as a research fellow in the Section of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery of the University of Chicago. I also collaborate with colleagues at the Department of Otolaryngology at Rush University Medical Center.
I graduated in Medicine from the State University of Londrina, Brazil, in 2018, and entered a M.S. program in Public Health afterwards at the same institution. After the completion of my M.S. in 2020, I entered their PhD program in Public Health in the same year, in which I am currently enrolled.
During my PhD, I met Dr. Jayant Pinto from The University of Chicago and with Dr. Mihir Bhayani from Rush University Medical Center and decided to study here to enhance my training. They arranged an opportunity for me to come to the United States in May 2022, as part of my original PhD program.
My main field of research is to understand how air pollution and environmental hazards influence diseases of the upper airway and head and neck. My goal is to continue the research on how environmental exposure can affect the incidence and mortality of otolaryngologic diseases. I have plans to expand our NSHAP This will improve the understanding we have on how pollution can affect health.
