Andres M. Bur, MD, FACS is an Associate Professor of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, Director of Robotic and Minimally Invasive Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Kansas. Dr. Bur received his medical degree (2011) and completed residency in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery (2016) at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. Following residency, he completed his fellowship in Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery at Emory University in 2017.
He is vice chair of the Young Members Service of the American Head and Neck Society. He is the director of the Young Members Corner Podcast, supported by the AHNS. Dr. Bur is a Surgeon-Scientist whose research is focused on developing and evaluating evidence-based interventions and technologies to improve outcomes for patients with head and neck cancers. His research, which is funded through the National Cancer Institute, American Cancer Society and University of Kansas Cancer Center, focuses on the use of machine learning to personalize care and predict clinical outcomes in head and neck oncology. He has been interviewed and invited to speak internationally on the topic of Artificial Intelligence in Otolaryngology.
