Phillip K Pellitteri DO,FACS, is a fellowship trained head and neck surgeon with a 30 year experience in academic medicine, clinical research and resident education. Dr Pellitteri is Attending Surgeon and Regional Medical Director in the Department of Otolaryngology/ Head & Neck Surgery and Co Director of the System Program for Thyroid and Parathyroid Disorders in the Geisinger Health System. Dr Pellitteri also holds the title of Clinical Professor of Surgery in the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine. Dr Pellitteri’s clinical and research interests have focused on endocrine head and neck surgery with a particular interest in the surgical management of hyperparathyroidism. He is the author of more than 100 peer reviewed contributions to the literature, including journal articles and textbook chapters. He has served as the principal editor of 2 textbooks dealing with endocrine surgery of the head and neck, together with serving as a consistent peer reviewer for multiple surgical journals. Dr Pellitteri has served on several AAO-HNSF educational and clinical committees over the course of his career. He has consistently contributed to the educational mission of the academy by presenting courses, scholarly research, invited presentations, and participating in workshops/panels. As result, he received the academy’s Honor Award in 1998. Among other professional society memberships, Dr Pellitteri completed and presented his Triological thesis in 2003, receiving the Honorable Mention award for clinical research. He remains active in academic surgery and research, serving in the roles noted above within the Geisinger Health System.
