Evan R. Edwards is a vocal pedagogue and opera singer from Kansas City, Missouri, who is currently a fourth-year medical student at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. Prior to medicine, he worked as a voice teacher across a variety of ages and ability levels with a particular interest in the rehabilitation of post-operative singers. As a result, he developed an early interest in the specialty of otolaryngology. Throughout his medical education, this interest matured into a broad appreciation for the field and the desire to pursue it as a career. An active researcher and presenter, Evan’s scholarship explores several research interests including performing arts medicine, surgical outcomes, and head and neck cancer disparities. Recent publications can be found in The Laryngoscope, American Journal of Otolaryngology, Journal of Voice, and Medical Problems of Performing Artists. His personal interests include playing Dungeons & Dragons where he plays as a bard (singer) and cleric (healer), as well as spending time with his wife, Elizabeth, and his pet ferret, Draig.
