Mark Knackstedt received his B.S. in Biomedical Engineering from Texas A&M College Station in 2017. While there his interests revolved around nanotechnology and polymer utilization in 3-D printing. He has expertise in metal nano-particle pathways and gallium utilization in meshes and wrote several sections for a review article on antimicrobial nanoparticles. He additionally developed a novel extrusion method utilizing a modified cylindrical
coordinate system while working for Alcon Inc. He received his MD from McGovern Medical School in Houston, Texas. During this time, he pivoted to a more clinical research role where he conducted a public health survey in Peru, carried out retrospective reviews in 4D-CT, and amalyzed imaging of cancer affecting otologic processes. He was also able to use his engineering expertise developing a protocol for a novel device to decrease OR fires. He now is an otolaryngology resident at LSU Shreveport where he is currently working on animal studies utilizing everolimus in TP53 mutant head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
