PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Velopharyngeal Dysfunction (VPD) is a complex and often debilitating pathology , managed by otolaryngologists in collaboration with speech pathologists. It often has significant psychological and social impact on our patients. A case- based panel discussion featuring leading VPD experts will provide updates on the latest surgical techniques and management algorithms, including challenging cases such as revision surgery. It will identify areas of controversies and future research directions.

OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 1: Understand the basics of VPD evaluation

OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 2: Discuss multidisciplinary medical and surgical management, including patient-tailored surgery.

OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 3: Recognize some of the challenging and/or unusual cases of VPD e.g. revision surgeries and patients with craniofacial anomalies ( Goldenhar syndrome,..)

BACKGROUND STATEMENT: Most VPD surgeons in the US have either been trained or influenced by the experts on this panel. Yet, their management algorithms and surgical techniques are different. A case-based discussion would be helpful to all ORL surgeons who manage VPD.
