PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: Despite advances in the surgical management of the sinuses, the anatomy of this region for many, remains a "black box." This course presented via endoscopic photos, CT, and video will focus on basic and advanced understanding of paranasal sinus anatomy, enhancing the practitioners ability to perform both virgin and revision endoscopic sinus procedures.
OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 1: To review the embryology of the paranasal sinuses and to understand how this influences surgical techniques in virgin and revision surgery
OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 2: To understand the spaces surrounding the sinuses and how this impacts surgery performance in both virgin and revision procedures
OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 3: To provide tips and tricks to optimize surgical outcomes
BACKGROUND STATEMENT: Excellent surgery requires excellent knowledge of the anatomy. Virgin cases are more easily performed. However in revision cases, anatomy becomes distorted and outcomes more tenuous. This session will focus on anatomy understanding that will serve the learner in both of these situations.
