PROGRAM DESCRIPTION: This session broadly focuses on promoting equity in access to and the delivery of otolaryngologic care on the international scale through trans-institutional partnerships and resource mobilization. Presenters will provide an overview of the international landscape of disparities in access to medical services, with influence from a myriad of factors ranging from civil unrest and warfare to natural resource depletion and other climate-related crises. They will discuss examples of active efforts to address international otolaryngologic care disparities, which includes the development of virtual educational tools, adapting treatment algorithms to account for environmental differences, and donating physical supplies when able. Finally, presenters will highlight opportunities for innovation in partnerships between high- and under-resourced regions in order to address emerging care needs. Audience participation in this discussion is strongly encouraged. This session is endorsed by the Humanitarian Efforts Committee.

OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 1: To understand current barriers to addressing otolaryngologic needs of patients in under-resourced regions throughout the world.

OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 2: To highlight trans-institutional partnerships and other efforts being undertaken on an international scale to address otolaryngologic care and resource gaps.

OUTCOME OBJECTIVE 3: To identify new opportunities for strengthening international partnerships to enable high quality otolaryngologic care provision in under-resourced settings.

BACKGROUND STATEMENT: As the climate crisis, warfare and other international disasters threaten access to quality medical services, we need to strengthen international partnerships to facilitate the flow of resources to under-resourced settings.
