(087) Cingi Steps for Preoperative Computer Imaging Before Augmentation Rhinoplasty

Introduction: Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure that reshapes the nose's bones and cartilage to improve its appearance or function. The procedure's outcomes can vary depending on the patient's individual anatomy, the surgeon's skill, and the specific techniques used during the surgery.
A successful preoperative consultation for rhinoplasty requires clear communication between the surgeon and the patient. We aimed to look into the efficacy of morphing technology in patients who were going to have augmentation rhinoplasty.

Methods: A stepwise systematic guide for image editing was developed for Adobe PhotoShop using only the “liquify” effect
Without discussing the procedure, looking directly at the monitor, 6 steps were performed.

1- Augmenting the dorsum, 2-Lengthening the nose, 3- Adjusting the tip projection, 4-Perfection of the nasal dorsum, 5-Creating a supratip break, 6-Exaggerating the tip projection and/or the dorsal augmentation.
This final step is performed to help patients to decide to either the 4th or the 5th step. When the patients see this result, they will typically choose to omit the exaggeration of the tip projection and the dorsal hump. This step concludes the discussion.

Results: One hundred consecutive augmentation rhinoplasty cases were enrolled in our study.
After the application CS-PCI before augmentation rhinoplasty, 71 patients (75%) accepted Step-4, and 19 (19%) patients accepted Step-5. Furthermore, 6 patients (8%) requested additional changes during their operation planning. In 95% of the cases, the authors were able to achieve the results agreed upon based on the preoperative simulation.

Conclusions: By involving 6 steps for augmentation rhinoplasty, the patients were given the opportunity to see the options for the final appearance of their noses. It helped them to reach the decision for their operations. The level of communication between doctor and patient was increased. So the postoperative quality of life was increased.
